Used or new van parts: which is the smarter choice?
The smarter choice is not automatically new or used. A used original body part may be readily available and attractively priced, while a new part can offer a more predictable cosmetic condition. Fitment, function, damage, lead time and total repair cost should guide the decision.
Compare the same specification
Only compare genuinely equivalent parts. Check OE number, make, generation, side, design, colour, connectors and included components. A complete used door and a new bare door shell are not a direct price comparison.
Assess condition and function separately
Used body parts may have scratches, small dents or stone chips, while locks, hinges and electronics need separate assessment. Decide which wear is acceptable and how much preparation is required.
Calculate the whole repair
Include purchase, shipping, missing components, fitting, adjustment and refinishing. Review current availability, returns and warranty information from the seller before deciding.
