Replacing a van wing mirror: which plug and functions?
Two mirrors for the same model can look identical outside while using different connections. Heating, electric adjustment, power folding, indicator, camera, blind-spot warning and temperature sensor all define the required version.
Start with side and mirror arm
Left and right follow the direction of travel. Compare short or long arm, mounting base, housing shape, main and wide-angle glass, and manual or electric control. Arm length is especially important on wider vehicles.
Compare connector and pin layout
Do not only count visible pins; compare shape, colour, locking tab, cable exit and OE number. The same connector shell can be wired differently, while an added function may need vehicle wiring, a module and coding.
Record every fitted function
Before removal, test heating, adjustment, power fold, indicator, puddle light, antenna, camera, sensor and memory. After installation, test each function and the mechanical mounting.
Checklist before ordering
- Left/right from direction of travel
- Short or long mirror arm
- Connector shape and pins compared
- All electrical functions recorded
- Camera and sensors checked
- OE number and mounting base matched
Note: fitment can vary by model year, generation and specification. Always verify the OE number and vehicle details before ordering.
Find a matching part
Filter mirrors by vehicle and side, then compare plug, arm and functions one by one.
