How to inspect a large vehicle part after delivery
A door, bonnet or bumper is large, heavy and vulnerable in transport. A methodical inspection before installation helps distinguish described wear, shipping damage and missing components. Keep all packaging and document each stage.
Take photographs before unpacking
Inspect every side of the pallet, carton, film and protective material. Photograph shipping labels, dents and tears before removing anything. Record visible issues at receipt in line with the carrier’s and seller’s current instructions.
Compare the part and included components
Unpack safely with enough space and assistance for heavy items. Compare item number, side, colour, OE markings and listing photos. Check glass, locks, connectors and trim that should be included.
Report differences before alteration
Take detailed damage photographs and retain the materials. Contact the seller before painting, drilling, dismantling or installing the part, because alteration can make assessment harder. Follow the current reporting and returns process.
